North Yarmouth’s longtime Soup and Cider Day brought the community together once again at Skyline Farm, serving homemade soups and fresh cider pressed on a 175-year-old machine. Thanks to University of Maine engineering students who helped refurbish the antique press, this year’s event poured faster, fresher cider than ever.
Thousands of Mainers gathered in towns and cities across the state Saturday to protest Trump administration actions and policies that organizers said threaten democracy. In Portland, Augusta, Auburn and other communities, protestors at the “No Kings” rallies carried signs, rang cowbells and led chants. The events were among more than 2,600 protests held nationwide, and they came amid a lingering government shutdown.
