Freeport News Sunday

Harpswell Anchor - The Bailey Island Post Office property is back on the market, but lovers of the 04003 ZIP code shouldn’t be concerned. Barring unexpected action by the U.S. Postal Service, the 864-square-foot building will remain a functioning postal facility for the foreseeable future.

The last time the property was for sale, back in 2009, there were real fears about the post office shutting down. But a group of concerned residents, led by former Postmaster Kim Doughty Bourret and Ron York, another former post office employee, formed Save the Bailey Island Post Office LLC and raised $200,000 to buy the property.
