Ethnic Cleansing in the West Bank
Tuesday, September 9
5 – 6:30 pm
Curtis Memorial Library in Brunswick
The genocide in Gaza has rightfully been front and center in the struggle for human rights for Palestinians. Less visible, but also deadly and inhumane is the military occupation, settler violence, and land theft in the West Bank. In recent days, Israel has given final approval to a plan to build thousands of new housing units in the occupied West Bank that effectively cuts the territory in two.
Presenters Ken Jones and Melody Shank have visited the West Bank, most recently as part of a delegation with Community Peacemaker Teams in Hebron.
Their presentation will be followed by conversation. Bring your love, grief, outrage, and whatever questions or information you may have to share.
Presenters Ken Jones and Melody Shank are retired professors of teacher education at the University of Southern Maine. They now live in Asheville, North Carolina, where they are organizers with a local ant-war group called Reject Raytheon AVL. Ken coordinates a national organization of similar local groups opposing war profiteers called the War Industry Resisters Network (https://wirn.worldbeyondwar.org/), which presents monthly webinars on various aspects of the military-industrial complex. Melody sings with a women’s choral group called WomanSong. When she lived in Maine, she performed with Women in Harmony
