Maine Morning Star - Although Troy Jackson is the expected Democratic U.S. Senate nominee, two other candidates who remain in the race qualified for the nominating convention on Saturday.
Candidates had to submit 500 signatures from registered Democratic voters in Maine by 11:59 p.m. on Monday. Along with Jackson, David Costello, Saundra Pelletier and Dan Kleban submitted the signatures necessary to qualify, the party announced Tuesday.
However, Kleban, co-founder of Maine Beer Company, and several other candidates already publicly announced they were dropping out over the weekend.
Hannah Pingree has been endorsed by Planned Parenthood.
