- Collins voted against ACA tax credit extension at every turn and then tried to save face at the last minute when Mainers' insurance rates began to skyrocket.
- Despite thousands of Mainers relying on the tax credits, she called them 'poison pills,' AND refused to include an extension for them in the deal to reopen the government that she claimed credit for. Give us a break.
- She has voted to confirm TWELVE anti-choice judges this year alone — her vendetta against reproductive freedom is TIRED, and we are done with it.
- Collins has doubled-down and offered “no regrets” on her votes to confirm controversial Trump officials and judicial nominees who are inflicting harm on Mainers, including Brett Kavanaugh, RFK Jr. and OMB Director Russ Vought.
We need a Senator who will be a fierce advocate for healthcare, protect reproductive rights, and be able to go toe-to-toe with Donald Trump. Susan Collins is none of those things.
Press Herald - Maine lawmakers passed a resolution asking the Maine Supreme Judicial Court for an advisory opinion about whether ranked-choice voting can be used this fall to elect a governor and a new Legislature. If the court approves of the Legislature’s plans for ranked-choice voting, it could mean a major change to the way Mainers vote on dozens of races this election season.
Eliot Cutler, the disgraced former Maine gubernatorial candidate who was arrested again Monday, is accused of possessing pornography, his lawyer said — the third time since September that Cutler has allegedly violated the conditions of his release. Maine State Police say they arrested Cutler at a South Portland hotel on Monday after officers witnessed him breaking the terms of his most recent — and more stringent — bail conditions.
Natural Resource Council of Maine - Central Maine Power (CMP) was required to conserve at least 50,000 acres in western Maine to make up for the damage to wildlife habitat that was done when it built its New England Clean Energy Connect (NECEC) transmission corridor. But the land the company selected is some of the most heavily cut forest in the North Woods, with almost no mature forest capable of supporting the plants and animals that rely on them. CMP is also proposing to cut down 25% of what little mature forest remains in the area over the next 12 years.
That’s why NRCM, together with the Appalachian Mountain Club, Maine Audubon, and Trout Unlimited have filed an appeal challenging CMP's conservation plan for the NECEC project. Now it’ll be up to the Board of Environmental Protection (BEP) to determine if CMP should be required to strengthen its plan.
