News Center Maine -   — Two people were injured Tuesday in a head-on crash involving a car and a home heating oil truck on Royalsborough Road, according to Durham Fire & Rescue.

Fire crews were first notified of the crash at around noon at 987 Royalsborough Road, also known as Route 136. The collision left the oil truck on its side and a passenger vehicle with its sole occupant trapped inside.

The driver of the passenger car, a woman, was conscious, alert, and stable when crews arrived, Durham Fire Chief Robert Tripp told NEWS CENTER Maine. She was extricated from the vehicle and transferred by LifeFlight of Maine to Maine Medical Center for further treatment.

The truck driver, a man, was also conscious and alert and was able to get out of the truck on his own. He was transported to a hospital by Freeport Fire Rescue.

According to what the driver told police, the oil truck was carrying home heating oil identified as UN-1993 and was loaded with approximately 2,500 gallons, Tripp said.
