Freeport Historical Society invites you to a morning of shared storytelling and reflection. History is shaped by the values and assumptions of its time, and new perspectives can reveal truths that challenge what we thought we knew. At this gathering, you will hear how one community member’s discovery transformed her understanding of the romantic story of her house at Porters Landing, and the effect that this revelation had on her and her understanding of the stories she told herself about her own history and identity. Participants are invited to listen, reflect, and share their own experiences of learning something unexpected, considering how reexamining history together can deepen our understanding of Freeport and one another. |
