- December isn’t the busiest month of the year on the Maine Turnpike and definitely not on the state’s sandy beaches. But tourists are still seeking out small towns in Maine for holiday experiences. Some towns and businesses have leaned heavily into the season, in part to give businesses a boost before the quieter winter months.
- Officers for the Maine Capitol Police are worried about being pushed out of their jobs after state officials told them this week that the agency will be overtaken by the Maine State Police. The law enforcement agency, which oversees security at the Maine State House in Augusta, includes about a dozen officers who protect state lawmakers and visitors.
