- The Senate confirmed a Maine attorney’s nomination to the 1st U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals on Tuesday, in a party-line vote that divided Maine’s two senators. Joshua Dunlap was nominated by President Donald Trump in July, with support from Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine. Sen. Angus King, an independent, voted against confirming Dunlap on Tuesday.
- As Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits evaporate because of the federal government shutdown, food pantry managers in tribal communities are looking to hunters to meet a sharp rise in demand. Nearly 170,000 Mainers rely on SNAP benefits for food. That includes about 45% of people living in tribal communities.

District 6 Town Council race in Brunswick, which was decided by a single vote. Don't let anyone tell you your vote doesn't matter (especially in town races). According to unofficial results released late Tuesday, Ramona Thieme edged out incumbent Councilor Nathaniel Shed, 478-477.
