  • U.S. Border Patrol agents in Maine apprehended 725 people in fiscal 2025 who were suspected of being in the country illegally, exceeding the previous record of 685 apprehensions in 2001 by agents of Houlton Sector Maine. The 725-person total did not include arrests by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

Freeport  - Freeport Police & Public Works have been fielding a lot of calls about the traffic at the bridge on Mallett Drive, particularly about the length of red traffic lights.  Please note that this is a Maine DOT project, in partnership with T.Y. Lin project managers. 

UPDATE 11/21: The project management team is aware that there are issues that have to do with the light cycling on Mallett Drive and Desert Road. They are currently working on adjusting the detection system, along with fine tuning the timing. We will continue to update the community regarding this project's progress.  View it on website
