170,000 Mainers won’t get November SNAP benefits. Blame the shutdown

From 4 inches of rain in the Rangeley area to under an inch in the Midcoast and southern regions of the state, the range of precipitation totals across Maine on Monday is having varying impacts on the ongoing drought. Western Maine saw the highest precipitation totals on Monday, with 3 inches or more in much of Oxford and Franklin counties – enough to put a dent in the drought in that region.

A leading Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate in Maine took the unusual step this week of disclosing he has a tattoo that has been linked to Nazis. Graham Platner said he didn’t know the meaning of the skull tattoo, which he got in 2007 while on leave in Croatia during his time in the Marines. Sen. Bernie Sanders, who gave Platner an early endorsement, said he'll continue to support the candidate. 

Maine Senate Democratic Campaign Committee -  This year, Question 1 puts critical voting rights on the line — specifically, Maine’s absentee ballot access.This is a direct attack on our voting rights. 40% of Mainers voted absentee in the last election — almost half of our state's voting population.

We'll see more attempts to suppress Mainers' votes in the coming years as Republicans continue fanning fears of widespread voter fraud.Maine Senate Democrats are working hard to counter this narrative and spread the word to make sure Maine shows up and votes NO on Question 1.
