 Press Herald - Maine remains committed to offering free school meals for all students, but that program could get harder to fund under short- and long-term cuts to federal nutrition benefits. During the latest school year, the state received about $67 million in federal funding for school meal reimbursements. The Portland City Council on Wednesday moved to accept a $21 million federal transportation grant for Portland International Jetport, despite a recently added requirement that the city cooperate with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, or ICE, if it accepted the money.
