 Battle of the Margaretta

Two hundred and fifty years ago this summer (June 1775), the first naval battle of the American Revolution was fought off the coast of Machias. A resounding victory, Patriot forces captured the British schooner, Margaretta, and launched Jeremiah O’Brien and Machias into legendary status. Read the story.
