Freeport News Friday

Newsbreak - Freeport has decided to make a change to one of the busiest intersections in town. The Intersection of Main and Bow Streets in Freeport Will Become An All-Way Stop

A key intersection sitting right outside the L.L. Bean Flagship store is the cross between Main Street and Bow Street.

Bow street has had a stop sign and Main Street has the right-of-way to flowing traffic. But an increase in both vehicular and pedestrian traffic pushed the town to consider the safety as well as walkability of that key intersection.

Starting in September, that intersection will be fitted with stop signs in all directions. Alternating traffic flow while observing crosswalk laws will be put in place.

One of the top concerns for residents that travel Main Street regularly is that the change to an all-way stop could cause traffic snarls in an already condensed Freeport village.  The MaineDOT and town are aware of the concern. The all-way stop to Main and Bow Streets is considered a 'trial' run with potential changes or elimination possible if it doesn't work.

WCYY -  Something new and very sweet is coming to Freeport, Maine.  That would be a new location of What The Actual Fudge, the popular Maine Mall confections shop that continues to grow its fanbase.

What The Actual Fudge is known for their small batch creative takes on classic fudge. All of it is house-made with many of the ingredients sourced in Maine.

So it makes sense that the small candy shop is expanding to another town in Maine that could use a sugar rush.

If you go looking for What The Actual Fudge in Freeport, you'll visit them inside a historical building.

What The Actual Fudge will be located on the second floor of the E.B. Mallett Building at 7 Mill Street that once was home to Maine Craft Distilling. It's part of the Freeport Village Station shopping area.
