WGME - Livestock are once again grazing at a historic farm in Freeport for the first time in about half a century. The Pettengill Farm Pasture Regeneration Project is underway with cows grazing on the land for the first time since the 70s.
It's a partnership between the Freeport Historical Society and Giblin Cattle Company of Maine, a new livestock operation. Organizers say it's a win for everyone involved because the soil health is restored, the cows and pollinators are happy, and it helps produce high-quality grass-fed beef.
