From Yarmouth's American Legion Post

American Legion Post 91 -  Hi Yarmouth!

It’s been a little while, so we would like to re-introduce ourselves! We are your American Legion Post #91, located at the Log Cabin on Main Street. Fun fact: last year, with the support of our Town, we, along with Amvets Post 2, began a Veteran Legacy project to record the stories of our local Veterans and capture on video the deep legacy of service in our area. This has enabled us to begin archiving these firsthand experiences for future generations.

Our next events are coming up fast:

Planting of Memorial grave flags on May 17th at 9am at Riverside cemetery. Last year, our volunteers planted over 500 flags. If you are concerned that one of our volunteers may miss putting a flag at your loved one’s headstone, come on out and join us!

Putting up the flag poles on the Memorial Green in front of Town Hall May 24th at 8am. Bring some coffee and a positive attitude.

Raising the American Flags on the Memorial Green May 26th at 8am. The flags we raise are casket flags from veterans’ families to honor their service and sacrifice for our nation. Each flagpole has a placard with their name, rank and service. Note: If it is raining or there is an expectation of inclement weather the flags will be safeguarded at the Post to ensure their integrity as they are made of cotton and not all-weather flags.

Our Memorial Day Parade will be on May 26th beginning at Yarmouth High School on the Elm Street side at 10am. More details to come. All Veterans and their families are welcome to join our Post in marching in the parade behind the honor guard!

If you are ever interested in volunteering with the Legion Post or becoming a member, don’t hesitate to reach out directly. We deeply appreciate the amazing support provided to our American Legion Post and are grateful for the opportunity to continue to serve you, your families, and our community.
We look forward to seeing you on the parade route!
Your Post,
American Legion Post #91
