 Maine’s Bureau of Motor Vehicles branches say they are overwhelmed with customers as a federal rule requiring Real ID-compliant licenses to board domestic flights will soon go into effect on May 7. The nationwide requirement for the more secure identification was passed after the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001, though the program has been delayed several times.
